The Detroit Free Press as well as MLive had some news this morning regarding the expected return of some of the Red Wings recently injured players. Follow along after the jump to find out when we can expect to see Johan Franzen, Pavel Datsyuk and Jimmy Howard back on the ice for the Wings.
First, according to the Freep, Jimmy Howard’s tests didn’t show any major damage and he is officially listed as day-to-day. He could return as early as Wednesday against St. Louis, but Thomas McCollum will be recalled to backup Joey MacDonald on Monday with Chicago coming to town. McCollum has been playing in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye. The Wings recalling him allows Jordan Pearce to try to finish what he has started and get the Grand Rapids Griffins into the playoffs.
MLive’s Ansar Khan reports that Johan Franzen has cleared himself to play on Monday…but Mike Babcock will wait until game time to declare him in the lineup just in case.
Pavel Datsyuk will definitely miss at least one more game, but could return either Wednesday or Saturday. Excellent news all around on the injury front I’d say.
