Streaking Red Wings Aim For Fifth Straight Win

Matchup: Philadelphia Flyers vs. Detroit Red Wings

Venue: Joe Louis Arena; Detroit, MI

Time: 8:00 PM EST

Television: National: NBC Sports Network

The Detroit Red Wings seek a 5th straight win tonight as they host the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at Joe Louis Arena. This is the 2nd of 3 meetings this season between the two teams, with Detroit snatching game 1 back on October 12th by a 5-2 score.

The Detroit Red Wings will be without their top two forwards tonight, as Pavel Datsyuk is still out while recovering from a concussion, and captain Henrik Zetterberg is out with a herniated disk. Todd Bertuzzi will also miss tonight’s game with a shoulder injury. How the Wings react to these injuries will be the key. Their secondary scoring has to find a way to put the puck in the net. Players like Justin Abdelkader, Johan Franzen, and Daniel Alfredsson will be looked upon to lead the Wings scoring attack. Stephen Weiss will move up to the top line and play with Franzen and Gustav Nyquist, while Cory Emmerton draws back into the lineup and will center the 4th line between Dan Cleary and Mikael Samuelsson. Jimmy Howard gets the nod in goal.

After a slow start, the Flyers have found their scoring touch. Captain Claude Giroux leads the team with 18 points, while Vincent Lecavalier leads the team with 9 goals. Lecavalier is questionable for tonight’s game due to back spasms. Steve Mason will start for Philly in net.

Here are tonight’s lines and defense pairs for Detroit:

Gustav Nyquist-Johan Franzen-Stephen Weiss

Justin Abdelkader-Darren Helm-Daniel Alfredsson

Drew Miller- Joakim Andersson-Tomas Tatar

Daniel Cleary-Cory Emmerton-Mikael Samuelsson

Jonathan Ericsson-Niklas Kronwall

Kyle Quincey-Brendan Smith

Brian Lashoff-Jakub Kindl

Jimmy Howard (starting)

Jonas Gustavsson
