LAKELAND, Florida— The Detroit Tigers have officially begun defense of their American League Championship. With pitchers and catchers having been in Lakeland since early in the week, the rest of the team reported yesterday in anticipation of first workouts today.

It’s been a cool, damp morning in Lakeland, so the team had been spending time in the batting cages. A matchup with the Atlanta Braves to open spring training is a week away!
