Tigers Prep For Spring Training Opener

on

LAKELAND, Florida —- The Detroit Tigers are just days away from opening up the 2013 Spring Training season. On Friday, the Tigers will face the Atlanta Braves to officially start Grapefruit League play. The Tigers have spent the past few days getting back into the swing of things (pun intended). Here are a few notes from sunny Florida:

According to Jim Leyland, Brennan Boesch hasn’t taken part in workouts since last week. His oblique muscle is giving him trouble and he is playing it safe by not over-doing it too soon.

Mlive.com’s Chris Iott reports that Nick Castellanos will start in left field on Friday against Atlanta. Quintin Berry will start in center, while Avisail Garcia gets the call in right. Other starters on Friday include Brayan Pena, Prince Fielder, Omar Infante, Jhonny Peralta, and Miguel Cabrera. Rick Porcello will start the game on the mound.

Spring is almost here! Go Tigers!
