After leaning heavily on their top guns through the first nine games of the season, the third and fourth lines roared to life factoring in on the Wings first three goals. Danny Cleary opened the scoring with his first of the season, then Jakub Kindl suit before the period ended.
The lead was briefly cut to one goal on a second period Alex Pietrangelo power play tally, but the Wings answered quickly with Cory Emmerton's first of the year 1:48 later. Damien Brunner capped a wild 3:19 near the end of the second frame with his fifth of the season.
Valtteri Filppula rounded out the scoring by burning past two Blues to a loose puck in the neutral zone before displaying tremendous patience and beating Brian Elliott high over the glove.
The win snapped a two-game skid and was the second consecutive time the Wings had beat the Blues this season.
