Sharks' Couture fined for slew-foot on Brendan Smith (w/ video)


San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture was fined $5,000 USD by the NHL for his vicious slew-foot incident against Red Wings D Brendan Smith in Detroit's 3-2 win over San Jose on Thursday night.

On the play, Smith was penalized for hooking, while Couture was penalized for tripping. Smith left the game and is listed as day-to-day.

The fine is the maximum allowed under the league’s collective bargaining agreement with the NHL Players’ Association.
