In the wake of the terrible news about Brandon Jennings‘ suspected Achilles injury, ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that the Pistons have shown interest in New York Knicks backup PG Pablo Prigioni.

It is expected that Jennings will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles, Stan Van Gundy can go with what he has right now with veteran D.J. Augustin and rookie Spencer Dinwiddie or he can go get a guy like Prigioni. Prigioni has only been in the league for 3 seasons, but he is 37 years old and has experience in the league.
If Van Gundy makes this move, Prigioni will be a calming influence who can hit the 3-ball and he doesn’t turn the ball over. He is a career 41.6% shooter from deep and averages exactly 1 turnover per game. He’s the perfect Van Gundy type player and it’ll be interesting if he does make this move.
Now, does Van Gundy make a move? Probably not, he doesn’t seem like the guy to panic after something like this. I think he’ll keep going with Augustin and Dinwiddie and he’ll go from there. Remember, Augustin saved the Chicago Bulls last season when Derrick Rose went down. As it stands, the Pistons are still in pretty good shape sitting 1.5 games back of the 8 seed following the 5-23 start. I don’t think Van Gundy makes a move, but Prigioni is an interesting option.
