MUST WATCH: Detroit Tigers give up worst home run in baseball history

1

If you are a fan of the Detroit Tigers, you have witnessed one of the most disappointing seasons in team history. Sure, the team has had worse overall records but when you take into account the talent they had to begin the season, this was the worst.

On Sunday, in a game against the first place Cleveland Indians, the Tigers pretty much summed up their entire season with one play.

Watch as Jose Ramirez hits one of the craziest home runs, if not THE craziest home run in Major League Baseball history. The ball hits the top of the fence not once, but twice before Tigers outfielder Mikie Mahtook tries to catch it bare handed but instead knocks it over the left field fence for a home run.

What’s really crazy is that Ramirez hit another lucky home run later in the game, this time to right field. When all was said and done, the Indians second baseman went 5-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs.

The Indians went on to win the game 11-1, dropping the Tigers to 58-78 on the season. It’s the first time Detroit has been 20 games under the .500 mark since 2005. That team went on to finish the season 71-91.

With the Tigers trading players like J.D. Martinez, Justin Wilson, Alex Avila, Justin Upton and Justin Verlander, and with Victor Marinez done for the season and Michael Fulmer possibly done too, it is most likely going to be a very long end to what has been a very difficult season to watch.

Don’t worry Tigers fans, 2018 is right around the corner!

NOTE: We know that many fans are going to bring up the time that Jose Canseco had the ball bounce off of his head for a home run but in our opinion, this one takes the cake because it took two bounces and then was deflected over the fence by Mahtook.

You be the judge.
