SCARY KIDS, SCARING KIDS (SKSK): A D:ET INTERVIEW

Like Authority Zero, Scary Kids Scaring Kids is another band from the Phoenix, AZ area that has had been fortunate enough to find a nationwide following. Taking their name from a song by emo band Cap’n Jazz, they quickly became a live performance powerhouse in the small town of Gilbert, once known as the Hay Capital of the World. This raw energy on stage has allowed them to tour with Aiden, Silverstein, Chiodos and even the 2006 Vans Warped Tour. Though they are often considered a “post-hardcore” or “screamo” band, SKSK really cannot be nailed down to a single category. Yes, there is screaming accompanied by some hardcore riffs, but it is the keyboard styling of Pouyan Afkary that really drives the music and makes it stand out. The audience can tell they have fun with their music, and it is this attitude that will make them a success while many others in their genre fail.
