Predators clip Wings in 5

Red Wings 1 Predators 2 It was a game the Detroit Red Wings had to have. They just didn’t have it. The Wings never seemed to get untracked against a Predators team that boasts the NHL’s best defense tandem and one of the best goaltenders on the planet. Watching this series unfold over the course of the last nine days, it was clear that the Wings were in over their heads. Nashville opened the scoring 6:59 into the series and never looked back. Talking with: Brendan Smith (plus a guest appearance by Logan Pyett)

The Grand Rapids Griffins blew a 5-3 third period lead in their final home game of the season tonight. Adding insult to injury, the loss eliminated them from playoff contention. Franzen solves Elliott twice in third, Wings win in SO

Red Wings 3 Blues 2 (SO) No one in the NHL had scored on Brian Elliott in almost two weeks. No literally, if he had made it another 6:05 without allowing a goal, it would have been two full weeks since being scored upon. That’s nutty. And then, this guy decided to show up. And then he showed up again. And then Todd did his thing in the shootout, and to the victor went the spoils. … Read entire article »

March’s Three Stars!

March’s Three Stars!

At the end of February, the Wings were first in the Central and second in the NHL after a 7-2-1streak to end the month. March was a complete belly flop, as Detroit ended on an 2-6-2 stretch that featured some of their worst hockey of the season. A lot of that can be blamed on injuries, as Nick Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, Jimmy Howard, Darren Helm, Johan Franzen, Karen Newman and the guy who sells peanuts in section … Read entire article »
