Riding 12 Game Winning Streak, Tigers Head to Oakland Looking to Clinch Division

In what has already been a memorable past few weeks for the Tigers, they once again found a way to make a statement and continue their longest winning streak since 1934. Over the past 2 weeks, Detroit has won ball games pretty much every way you can win them; walk-offs, comebacks, and blowouts. Their 6-5 win to sweep the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday afternoon was no different. With many starters getting the day off, … Read entire article »

Tigers On a Roll After Sweeping Sox & Tribe

The Detroit Tigers are officially on a roll. After sweeping the only two teams in the AL Central division that still have a mathematical chance to catch the Tigers, I’m convinced they’re playing the best baseball they have all season long. This has me extremely excited, but at the same time, has me wondering if they’re peaking a little too soon. Don’t get me wrong, I love beating the crap out of the Sox and Indians … Read entire article »

Saturdays Comeback Extends Tigers Division Lead

We’ve seen about 130 Tigers games so far this season, but last nights game between the Tigers and White Sox took the prize for game of the year, and we’re still only in early September. In what was one of baseballs greatest comebacks we’ve seen so far this season, Detroit again acted like cardiac kids and led a late inning rally to win 9-8 in walk-off fashion. Brad Penny gave up 8 runs over 5 … Read entire article »

Tigers Sweep Indians With Wild 8-7 Win

There are moments throughout a season that can define a team’s success and give them a special boost down the stretch run. In baseball, it’s hard to find a single game or even a single play that gives a team this boost. But I think the Tigers may have found their moment on Sunday. With 1 out in the 9th, Cleveland down by 1, and runners on 2nd and 3rd base, Cleveland’s Matt LaPorta sent … Read entire article »

When the sun rose on Monday morning, Twins outfielder Delmon Young found himself in Detroit, playing for a club that was 15 games out of a playoff spot and about to start a 3-game series with the Tigers later that night. As the sun went down, Young was playing in left field, playing in Detroit for a club that is currently in first place. You might wonder, how can this be true? But what happened … Read entire article »

Tigers Start 3-Game Series With Twins

Well it took 5 games, but the Tigers finally defeated arguably the hottest team in baseball on Sunday night, the Boston Red Sox. In the first game on Sunday, Andrew Oliver pitched a great game and received a quality start after allowing 3 ER in 6 innings and only 5 hits to a powerful Boston lineup. However, a costly David Ortiz home run given up by Jose Valverde in the 9th inning was the difference for the Red Sox. Game 2 featured a classic showdown featuring aces Josh Beckett and Justin Verlander. Verlander pitched outstanding and did everything a ball club asks from its ace; stop a losing streak and win a close game against a hot team. Verlander pitched 7.2 scoreless innings and the Tigers got 3 hits from … Read entire article »

Streaky Tigers Avoid Sweep with 2-0 Win vs Pittsburgh

As we enter the heart of the Major League Baseball season, the Tigers have more questions about their team than they have answers. Their record might not show it though. Sitting at .500, 7 games behind the best team in baseball, and second in the division might not sound TOO bad…However if you were to look at a calendar of April and May something would for sure pop out at you… A bunch of W’s in a row..followed by a lot of L’s in a row, followed by a few more consecutive W’s, and then 3 or 4 straight L’s…and then 5 or 6 W’s…….well you get the picture. This team is just too inconsistant. Usually at this time of year you can start to get a picture of where … Read entire article »
