The Detroit Lions (8-7) host the Green Bay Packers (7-8) in the season finale at Ford Field this afternoon.  There is heavy speculation that this will be Jim Caldwell’s final game as Detroit’s head coach, and that General Manager Bob Quinn will fire him regardless of the result.

Injuries have been a big part of the Lions’ story this season. They have had players miss a combined total of over 175 games because of injury this year.

It has been a real problem for the offensive line, and that is no different today. We already knew that center Travis Swanson would miss this week again because he was placed on Injured Reserve earlier this week with a head injury.  Detroit has had to start 10 different o-line combinations this season which has really hurt their offensive consistency.

Here is a list of the other Lions who have been ruled inactive for the game against the Packers.

If Lions’ Jim Caldwell is fired, he’ll be missed by his players

The Detroit Lions will close their 2017 schedule with a final game at Ford Field against the Green Bay Packers. There won’t be any playoffs this year for either side and while that’s a surprising turn of events for Packers Nation, it’s an all too familiar refrain here in the Motor City.

The heavy speculation is that the Lions will be replacing head coach Jim Caldwell following Sunday’s game. While the NFL is a business and players understand that, it doesn’t mean there aren’t special bonds created between them and the coaching staff.
