Legendary sportscaster Al Michaels is one of the all-time greats, but even they aren’t immune from making mistakes. It’s always best, however, when the rare mistake is humorous.

During the third quarter of Super Bowl LII between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, Michaels said that Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia (shown on a split screen with Philadelphia coach Doug Pederson) was about to be named the head coach of the Detroit Pistons.

Oops!

Of course, he certainly meant to say that the Lions would be hiring Patricia (the press conference is expected later this week). The subject was breached more than a few times during the broadcast.

We won’t be surprised, however, if Patricia is soon seen at Little Caesars Arena taking in a Pistons or Red Wings game.

That is not exactly the case for the Lions, who fired Jim Caldwell following a 9-7 season, which left the team just short of a second-straight playoff berth. Instead, many believe the Lions are close to getting over the hump and contending for a Super Bowl.

For some veterans, bringing in a new head coach often means there will be a ton of change. That change takes time and time is not always something a player has to give.
