The Michigan Wolverines and head coach Jim Harbaugh in particular have taken plenty of criticism following their opening week disappointment in South Bend against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The expected improvement on the offensive side of the ball with Ole Miss transfer Shea Patterson didn’t show up this past Saturday as the Wolverines managed just 90 yards of offense in the first half (307 total) and ultimately lost by a 24-17 final score.

The latest source of criticism for the Wolverines and Harbaugh comes from former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback-turned-minor league baseball player and ESPN college analyst Tim Tebow, who absolutely ripped Michigan’s anemic offensive showing.

Take a look at what he had to say:

“I’ve got to be honest, last week I was kind of shocked. I expected more from Michigan. I expected more from Shea Patterson. I expected more from their offense. Honestly, I thought it was kind of pathetic. I thought their effort was. All of their recruiting, their talent… and that’s the way you showed up against Notre Dame, who I also think is a little bit overrated?

You’ve got to give me more than that. You’ve been there. You’ve recruited your guys. Now this is your chance to make a statement to show the type of coach you are, that you’re worth all that money they gave you. That you’re worth all of these trips to Paris and everywhere else.

I think it’s cool you take trips, but the most important trips [are] when you go get a ‘W,’ big guy. So you’ve got to get that done first.”

Tebow’s criticism came on the heels of his prediction before the tilt that Michigan would emerge victorious over the Irish, and he singled out Patterson in particular as to why he thought Michigan would get the win.

“When’s the last time you can trust Notre Dame? I’m going with Michigan,” Tebow said last Friday. “I think they’re one of the best defenses in the country, and they have a young quarterback in Shea Patterson that, if he can mold himself into the offense, not play outside of the scheme because he likes to do that. He did that at Ole Miss. If he plays inside the scheme, he can be very special.”
