The Detroit Lions hosting a Thanksgiving matchup at home is a tradition dating back several decades. And with a national television audience tuned in before carving up their turkey, the team in recent years has tried getting headline musical acts to perform during halftime.

The choice for this year’s halftime performance was Detroit native Mike Posner, known for his US Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single “Cooler than Me” as well as the top 20 single “Please Don’t Go”.
However, viewers didn’t exactly embrace the selection. In fact, many reactions from the Twitter-verse were downright rude! Take a look at what some people had to say about the Detroit native performing at halftime during the Lions annual Thanksgiving game, including several jabs at his new shaggier look.
What is @NFL @Lions & @NFLonCBS thinking with this halftime noise? The legendary who? Michael Posner? Come on #Detroit! #KidRock #BobSeger #Eminem or a MoTown act are your legends…not this "poser".

Lions awarded former Bears cornerback Marcus Cooper
On Thanksgiving Day, the Detroit Lions played reasonably well for the majority of the game but when all was said and done, the Chicago Bears walked away with a 23-16 win. With the loss, the Lions are now 4-7 and their chances of making the playoffs (which were slim) took a big hit.
Though there has been no official announcement, reports are that the Lions have been awarded former Bears cornerback Marcus Cooper off waivers. Cooper, who was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft, had his best season in the league in 2016 with the Arizona Cardinals. During that season, Cooper was named as a Pro Bowl alternate after intercepting four passes and defending 11 others in 15 games (13 starts).

Since the move will be deferred until Friday, the Lions have not yet revealed who will be released to make room for Cooper.
Ironically (or maybe not so ironically), 2017 second round pick Teez Tabor was listed as inactive for Thursday’s game against the Bears, despite being healthy.
