The Detroit Lions 2020 season is officially in the books and it is now time for them to hire a new head coach and a new GM.
According to a report from Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Lions will request to interview Terry Fontenot (Saints) and Brad Holmes (Falcons).
From Sports Illustrated:
The Lions have already interviewed seven scouting types for their GM job (Rick Smith, Louis Riddick, Scott Pioli, Thomas Dimitroff and internal candidates Rob Lohman, Lance Newmark and Kyle O’Brien) and ex-Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis for their coaching job, and are going to move forward aggressively this week on both fronts. Interim coach Darrell Bevell will interview, and Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy and 49ers DC Robert Saleh will be requested this week, as will Fontenot and Holmes. The Lions plan to hire a scouting type on the GM side and a leader-of-men type on the coaching side, with four people—owner Sheila Ford, president Rod Wood, VP Mike Disner, and advisor Chris Spielman—running the interviews.
Breer just tweeted out that Fontenot will interview with the Lions on Tuesday.
Saints VP/assistant GM for pro personnel Terry Fontenot is scheduled to interview for the Lions GM job on Tuesday and the Falcons GM job on Wednesday, per sources.
