Dwane Casey: Andre Drummond and I will heave heart-to-heart talk

The Detroit Pistons got a much-needed victory over the Orlando Magic at Little Caesars Arena Wednesday night. With the win, the Pistons moved ahead of the Magic in the Eastern Conference and are now in the 9th playoff spot.

However, things weren't all completely positive afterwards. Pistons head coach Dwane Casey called out center Andre Drummond's poor habit of trying to go coast-to-coast after grabbing a rebound.

“Andre and I are going to have a heart-to-heart talk about his sashays down the court,” Casey said after the win. “Those aren’t winning plays, because teams aren’t going to let a center dribble down the floor and score. It might happen once a month.”

Of course, Casey was also quick to praise Drummond's number one asset – rebounding.

“Andre’s the best rebounder in the league — it isn’t even close — and that’s a huge asset,” Casey said.

Drummond is in elite company when it comes to rebounding – only Moses Malone (24) and Dennis Rodman (17) have recorded more “Moses Malone triple-doubles” since the ABA-NBA merger. Drummond put up 14 points, 11 offensive rebounds and 11 defensive rebounds against the Magic, the 11th such “Moses Malone triple-double” of his career.

The Pistons continue their home stand against the Miami Heat on Friday night.

His only NBA experience came during the 2014-2015 season when he played in one game for the Sacramento Kings, recording one steal.

This was the second player the Pistons signed to a two-way deal on Tuesday as they did the same with Isaiah Whitehead earlier in the day.
