While we are still two years away from the 2018 freshman class around college campuses ringing in the new year, it never hurts for college programs to hone in on the best prospects for football.
Prior to Monday, the University of Michigan had four hard commits from the class of 2018 for their football program. However, one has reportedly jump ship, 4-star defensive end/tight end prospect Leonard Taylor (Springfield, OH) has announced he is decommitting from the Wolverines program.

Taylor committed to the University of Michigan back in April of this year while visiting Michigan’s spring game. According to 247sports, while Michigan is still considered one of many schools vying for Taylor’s services, they are no longer a favorite. They also report that Taylor has scheduled unofficial visits to the likes of Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State. Taylor is considered a top-5 prospect in the state of Ohio, in the top 15 at his position and among the nation’s top 150 prospects overall.
Despite the departure of one hard commit, the Wolverines still have three 4-star players on their class of 2018 board: safety Otis Reese (Leesburg, GA), guard Jalil Irvin (Stone Mountain, GA) and linebacker Antwuan Johnson (Dayton, OH).
