After reading the title of this piece, you probably shook your head just like we did when we first saw the tweet you are about to see. How in the world can there already be a point spread for a game that will not take place for another eight months?
On Sept. 1, Jim Harbaugh and the University of Michigan will travel to Notre Dame to take on the Fighting Irish in a highly anticipated opening game of the season for both teams.
According to 5Dimes, the Fighting Irish are currently listed as a 2.5 point favorite over the Wolverines.

What really makes this point spread interesting is that Michigan does not even know who their starting quarterback will be by the time the regular season rolls around. It could be Brandon Peters who ended the 2017 season with the starting job, it could be Dylan McCaffrey, or it could be Shea Patterson, who transferred from Ole Miss and is still waiting for an NCAA decision to tell him if he is eligible to play immediately or not.
Michigan finished the 2017 season 8-5 after losing their final three games of the season, including blowing a 19-3 lead and losing the Outback Bowl 26-19 to South Carolina on New Year’s Day.
Notre Dame finished the 2017 season 10-3 after beating LSU 21-17 in the Citrus Bowl.

Michigan’s performance in the Outback bowl was full of forgettable moments. As Michigan fumbled away the game, frustration from the fan base became extremely palpable. However, don’t be naive and think the players don’t share those same intense feelings.
The second half was a disaster across the board with mishaps in all three phases of the game. While everybody contributed to the collapse, unfortunately, some plays stick out more. This was the case for Michigan’s freshman receiver and return man, Donovan Peoples-Jones. To put it nicely, Peoples-Jones had a rough day in the Outback Bowl.
