If you read my Michigan State predictions, you are well aware that I am no lover of the maize and blue.
Setting all fan bias aside, this is a very important year for Michigan football. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has to prove to Michigan fans that he is still the quarterback whisperer he was before arriving in Ann Arbor. If Joe Milton lives up to the massive amount of hype the media is bestowing on him, the Wolverines may be in for their best season yet in the Harbaugh era.
Here are my 2020 University of Michigan football game-by-game predictions!
Week 1 at Minnesota
Prediction: Michigan opens its season at TCF Bank Stadium against Minnesota. The Golden Gophers were an 11-win team a season ago, only losing one game at home. That, plus Tanner Morgan returning under center, tilts this matchup in favor of the home team. Michigan will hang tough but drop a close one in week one. MINNESOTA 28 MICHIGAN 24
Week 2 vs. Michigan State
Prediction: It pains me to pick Michigan here, but I am no fool. This is a young MSU team with a first-year head coach. I do not see a reality where Jim Harbaugh loses his first meeting against Mel Tucker and company, especially at home with no fans. Look for Michigan to win by at least two scores in this one. MICHIGAN 34 MICHIGAN STATE 17
Week 3 at Indiana
Prediction: We all know Indiana is a tough team, but the Wolverines have won 24 games in a row against the Hoosiers, dating back to 1988. That streak will not be ending this year. MICHIGAN 38 INDIANA 23
Week 4 vs. Wisconsin
Prediction: Wisconsin may have upended the Wolverines last season, but I like the home team in this one. Michigan will take this year’s matchup with the reigning Big Ten West champ. MICHIGAN 23 WISCONSIN 20
Week 5 at Rutgers
Prediction: The Lions are more likely to win the Super Bowl this season than the Wolverines are to lose this game. Michigan will slaughter Rutgers on the road. MICHIGAN 42 RUTGERS 13
Week 6 vs. Penn State
Prediction: By this point in the season, Joe Milton will have Michigan’s offense in a comfortable groove. Penn State will fight hard, but give me the maize and blue in a nailbiter here. MICHIGAN 28 PENN STATE 27
Week 7 vs. Maryland
Prediction: At home for a second straight week, this week 7 matchup against the Terrapins will be a breeze. MICHIGAN 37 MARYLAND 17
Week 8 at Ohio State
Prediction: Michigan fans hate admitting it, but come on guys, this is not even a competitive rivalry anymore. The Wolverines will head into Columbus hopeful and leave there drained and defeated. OHIO STATE 49 MICHIGAN 14
FINAL REGULAR SEASON RECORD: 6-2
Nation, how do you think the Wolverines will do this season?
