The first couple of waves of free agency are in the books and we are now just a couple of weeks away from the start of the 2022 NFL Draft.
With that being said, we figured it would be interesting to take a look into the future and find out which current player on the Detroit Lions could become free agents at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
As you can see below, the Lions currently have 24 players on their roster who are set to become either an unrestricted free agent or an unrestricted free agent. (This list includes T.J. Hockenson, who the Lions will almost certainly use the fifth-year option on if need be.)
Here is the full list of current Detroit Lions players set to become either unrestricted or restricted free agents following the upcoming season. (Via Spotrac)
- QB David Blough (UFA)
- QB Tim Boyle (UFA)
- RB Jamaal Williams (UFA)
- WR DJ Chark (UFA)
- C Evan Brown (UFA)
- T Matt Nelson (RFA)
- TE Rashod Berry (RFA)
- TE Hunter Bryant (RFA)
- TE T.J. Hockenson (UFA but the fifth-year option will likely be used)
- DE Austin Bryant (UFA)
- DE Jessie Lemonier (RFA)
- LB Alex Anzalone (UFA)
- LB Jarrad Davis (UFA)
- LB Chris Board (UFA)
- LB Shaun-Dion Hamilton (UFA)
- LB Josh Woods (UFA)
- CB Mike Hughes (UFA)
- CB Amani Oruwariye (UFA)
- S Will Harris (UFA)
- S Godwin Igwebuike (RFA)
- S C.J. Moore (UFA)
- S Bobby Price (RFA)
- K Austin Seibert (UFA)
- P Jack Fox (RFA)
Of the players listed above, my guess would be that the Lions will bring back T.J. Hockenson, DJ Chark, Amani Oruwariye, and Jack Fox.
My bet would be that the Lions shy away from bringing back RB Jamaal Williams as he just turned 27 and will be 28 by the time the 2023 season rolls around.
Nation, which of the players listed above would you like to see the Lions bring back for the 2023 season? Do you think they will re-sign Jamaal Williams?
