Former Detroit Red Wings and current Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland is in town for the World Junior Summer Showcase at Plymouth’s USA Hockey Arena. He spoke with WXYZ-TV Channel 7’s Brad Galli about his decision to leave the Red Wings following Steve Yzerman’s return, and said that initially, the plan was to stay put.
“I certainly knew that things were going to change in Detroit, Holland said, “but I wasn’t sure where my path was going to take me, but obviously now i’m very excited.”

“I’m looking forward to the challenge in western Canada in Edmonton,” Holland said. “I’m excited for the opportunity but very thankful for the time I had with the Red Wings.”
