SEC Network analyst and ESPN radio host Paul Finebaum is no stranger to criticizing the University of Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh in particular.
And following Saturday’s nail-biter win over Army, Finebaum was back at it again. He was asked which Big Ten team was more alarming – Scott Frost’s Nebraska losing to Colorado or Harbaugh’s Michigan nearly blowing it against Army.
“Surprisingly, I think it was Scott Frost because I was flipping around, that game was won, and all of a sudden, it wasn’t. And I think it’s time to give Army some credit. This reminded me so much of what happened last September when they nearly pulled it off in Norman and I know that Harbaugh acolytes will argue that it didn’t derail Oklahoma,” Finebaum said.
He then pivoted into another criticism of Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

“My issue with Michigan is just, do they have an offensive coordinator? Yes, I know the answer, and I know where he came from last year, and I know he’s got a good reputation, but it just never looks different up there. It always looks sloppy and methodical and looks like we’re watching a game in black and white in 1950.”
“So I’m not hitting the panic button; if they lost, of course I would have, and the whole country with it,” Finebaum continued. “You know, they have so many big games left and I think right now, just chalk that one up as survival.”
Is Michigan’s next opponent (Wisconsin) after this weekend’s bye a better team?
“Yeah, they really are,” Finebaum said.
