The Detroit Red Wings brought aboard goaltender Eric Comrie from the Arizona Coyotes, acquiring him in a deal that sent prospect defenseman Vili Saarijarvi to the desert.

Originally selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2nd round (59th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Comrie hails from Edmonton, Alberta but moved to Newport Beach, California with his family as a child. He participated in the 2008 Quebec International Pee-Wee hockey tournament, and was later drafted 1st round, 13th overall, by the Tri-City Americans in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
During the 2013-14 season with the St. Johns Ice Caps, Comrie led WHL in save percentage (.925) and was named to the WHL (West) Second All Star team.
He’s currently under contract for this season and next season after signing a two-year, $1.4 million deal with the Jets in September. He was acquired by the Coyotes through waivers and kept on the active roster due to the fact he’d have to go through waivers once again in order to be sent to the AHL.

In five career NHL starts with Winnipeg, Comrie is 2-3-0 with a 4.21 goals-against average and .870 save percentage. In four starts with the Tucson Roadrunners this year, he’s won all four with a 2.75 goals-against-average and .900 save percentage.
