On Sunday afternoon, the Detroit Lions will play what will arguably be their biggest game in five years when they host the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field. Now, it is not very often that a game between a 5-7 team (Lions) and a 10-2 team (Vikings) is considered a huge game, but that is exactly what Sunday’s game will be. With a win, the Lions will not only move to 6-7 on the season and keep their playoff hopes alive, but they will put the NFC North on notice for the foreseeable future. If the Lions want to take down the Vikings, there are three players who will have to BALL OUT on Sunday.
Which 3 Detroit Lions need to BALL OUT against the Vikings?
In order for the Detroit Lions to beat the Vikings, they will have to have all hands on deck. That being said, there are a few players who will have to rise up and BALL OUT in Week 14.
Jared Goff
Jared Goff has been playing extremely late over the past six weeks, and he will have to continue his hot streak against the Vikings. If Goff can take what the defense gives him, and if he can play turnover-free football for four quarters, the Detroit Lions will have an excellent shot to win on Sunday.
Jeff Okudah
When the Lions and Vikings squared off earlier in the season, Jeff Okudah absolutely shut down Justin Jefferson, who is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Expecting Okudah to do the same on Sunday is a talk task, especially since he is coming off an illness, but if he can, look out!
Dan Campbell
The last time these two teams met, the Lions were in complete control of the game, until head coach Dan Campbell made a head-scratching decision to kick a field goal rather than going for it on fourth-and-4. Trusting his offense and picking up a first down would have ended the game, but Cambell decided against that. The Vikings proceeded to march down the field for the game-winning touchdown. The Lions are looking like a decent football team, but they are not good enough to overcome bad coaching decisions. Campbell has to BALL OUT against the Vikings.
