After getting off to a 9-5 start in 2020, the Detroit Tigers have free fallen all the way to 10-15, which puts them in last place in the American League Central and 6 games out of the last Wild Card spot.
Though there had been chatter of the Tigers making a move or two to improve their roster prior to the MLB trade deadline (Aug. 31), it is now looking like general manager Al Avila will look to sell off a couple of pieces instead.
During the offseason, Avila went out and signed Jonathan Schoop, Austin Romine, and Ivan Nova to 1-year deals, which automatically puts each of them on the trade block moving forward. There would have been a fourth player added to this list but 1B C.J. Cron suffered a season-ending injury, which makes him untradable at this point.
With the Aug. 31 trade deadline just over a week away, look for one or more of the players listed about to be dealt for a minor league prospect. That being said, don’t expect much of a return at all for any of the three.
