At 4 p.m. EST on Saturday, each NFL team must have their 53-man roster submitted to the league.
After Friday’s “official” cuts (and a trade for QB David Blough), the Detroit Lions now sit at a roster size of 79, which means they have to cut 26 additional players before the deadline.
But don’t be surprised if Lions’ GM Bob Quinn goes out and makes a trade on Saturday to bolster his offensive line.
As we know, starting center Frank Ragnow suffered an ankle injury in the Lions third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. Though reports suggest Ragnow will likely be ready by Week 1, ankles can be tricky and Quinn may be looking for some depth.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer released a piece today which takes a look at 14 players who could be traded and three of those players just so happen to be offensive lineman.
I believe that the Lions could make a deal for one of those players by 4 p.m. today.
