3 Teams Detroit Lions ‘make the playoffs’ fans should root for in Week 14

After defeating the Chicago Bears in Week 13, the Detroit Lions have put themselves in a position to make a run at the 2020 NFL Playoffs! Oh, you don’t Bevellieve? Well, just take a look at how they could actually go 3-1 down the stretch and still get the nod.

I ‘BEVELLieve’ the Detroit Lions will make the Playoffs without winning out

If you are still rooting for the Lions to make the playoffs, you are obviously rooting for them to beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon but there are also a few other teams you should be rooting for today.

Here are 3 teams (not named the Lions) that you should be rooting for in Week 14 if you want the Lions to make the Playoffs. (Games listed in order of importance)

Updated with scores as of 2:49 p.m. ET.

Cardinals at Giants (1 p.m. – FOX)

If you want the Lions to make the playoffs, this is probably the most important game of the day not being played in Detroit. The Cardinals are currently ahead of the Lions in the standings and they need to lose!

UPDATE: Cardinals lead 13-0 at halftime

Texans at Bears (1 p.m. – CBS)

This one is a no-brainer because it features an AFC vs. NFC matchup but since the Bears are currently tied with the Lions in the standings, and because their remaining schedule is MUCH easier than the Lions, they must lose.

UPDATE: Bears lead 30-7 at halftime

Vikings at Buccaneers (1 p.m. – FOX)

To be honest, the Lions need both the Vikings and Buccaneers to lose this week but that is not possible since they play each other. That being said, the Lions can get the most help in getting into the playoffs if the Vikings go down.

Root for the Buccaneers

Buccaneers lead 17-6 in 3rd quarter

As we speak, the Lions currently have a 5% chance of making the playoffs but if they can beat the Packers, and the Bears, Vikings, and Cardinals all lose, that chance, as you can see below, will jump substantially to 17% (based on over 1 million New York Times simulations).

Nation, are you still rooting for the Lions to make the NFL Playoffs, or are you hoping for a higher draft pick?
