4 Detroit Lions coaches who need to be fired immediately

On Sunday, the Detroit Lions ended their 2019 season with a 23-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. With the loss, the Lions finished with a 3-12-1 record, which earned them the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft.

But what their record also earned them, shall they choose to accept it, is an opportunity for their coaching staff to travel to Mobile, Alabama to coach in the 2020 Senior Bowl.

This opportunity will give the Lions staff a chance to look at some of the top seniors in the nation, up close and personal, prior to the 2020 NFL Draft. A draft where the Lions absolutely must address the defensive side of the ball early and often.

Prior to the 2019 season, the expectation was that the Lions would have an outstanding defense, after all, they finished the 2018 season on a high note defensively and they signed multiple free agent defenders, including Trey Flowers and Justin Coleman.

Yet, the Lions had one of the worst defenses in the NFL in 2019 and you can bet some defensive coaches will be replaced in the offseason.

That being said, if the Lions are going to fire any of their coaches, they have to do it immediately so replacements can be hired prior to the 2020 Senior Bowl, which will take place the week leading up to the game on Jan. 25.

4 Lions defensive coaches/coordinators who should be fired immediately are the following.

  1. Paul Pasqualoni (Defensive Coordinator)
  2. Al Golden (Linebackers Coach)
  3. Bo Davis (Defensive Line Coach)
  4. Brian Stewart (Defensive Backs Coach)

The four coaches/coordinators above are at least partially responsible for the Lions lack of success on defense this season and since Matt Patricia will be back, you can bet there will be a fall man, or in this case, fall men.

If the Lions are smart (insert joke here), they will make these coaching decisions quickly so the new hires can take part in Senior Bowl week.

*Note: Do not be surprised if Pasqualoni is relieved of his duties as DC but retained as some sort of assistant.
