4-star DE James Hudson verbally commits to Michigan

The Wolverines just got a bit stronger on the defensive front as the Toledo Central Catholic (OH) 2017 prospect James Hudson chose Michigan over a host of other schools, including Michigan State.

The 6-foot-5 and 280 pound DE is the 10th ranked player in Ohio for the class of 2017 according to 247sports.com. Hudson spoke to rivals.com shortly after his commitment on Monday.

“(My family) all just came to a conclusion, I spoke with the coaches and made sure that’s what I wanted to do,” Hudson said. “It was chaotic, especially in the winter time (with recruiting). But this whole process was great. I’m glad it’s over.” –MLive.com

As a junior last season, Hudson racked up 82 tackles and 8.5 sacks for Toledo Catholic Central. The elite prospect had originally committed to Kentucky, but chose to reopen his recruitment back in May.

This verbal commit gives head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines 19 total commits for the class of 2017, a class that is currently ranked No. 7 nationally according to 247 Sports.
