The Michigan Wolverines recruiting class for 2017 took lost one casualty on Sunday. Per Scout.com, 4-star offensive lineman Kai-Leon Herbert (Fort Lauderdale, FL) has reportedly decommitted from Michigan.

Herbert, for those who remember, committed to Michigan last July ‘Walking Dead‘ style. The 6-foot-5, 284-pound lineman out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida has had multiple offers from numerous programs dating back to December of 2014. Michigan offered him a scholarship when he was still a sophomore in May of 2015. Herbert made two visits to Michigan, one in June and one in October, and his pledge to them was sandwiched in between that.

Herbert was officially on a visit to the University of Miami this weekend and is reportedly scheduled to make an official visit to the University of Florida next weekend. He already has scholarship offers from both programs as well as Auburn University, another program he visited earlier this month.

The 4-star offensive tackle Herbert is regarded as a top-30 player at his position and ranks No. 36 in the state of Florida. Despite the decommit, Michigan’s Class of 2017 still ranks top-5 in the country and 2nd in the Big Ten to only Ohio State. Minus Herbert, there are still five offensive lineman prospects committed to Michigan for 2017, three 4-stars and two 3-stars. Two of those 4-stars, Cesar Ruiz (pledged 12/19/16) and JaRaymond Hall (pledged 12/05/15), have already enrolled early at the school.

A reminder that National Signing Day is Wednesday, February 1. Of Michigan’s 26 commits for the Class of 2017, 11 have already signed their national letter of intent and enrolled early.
