Yes, Dan Orlovsky was still Matthew Stafford’s backup in 2016. Orlovsky has been Stafford’s backup for the past three seasons but did not see the field at all in 2016. Orlovsky does not have a great track record in the NFL, so the Lions should be thankful that Stafford has been durable throughout most of his career. Jake Rudock will likely take over as Stafford’s backup next season, as Orlovsky should have arguably been cut well before 2016 came around.
Orlovsky will perhaps best be remembered by Lions fans for walking out of the back of the end zone for a safety against the Minnesota Vikings during the infamous 0-16 season.
