Dropping the ball
One of the themes to the Detroit Lions offense this season has been dropped passes. During the regular season, the Lions had four players ranked towards the top of the NFL in dropped passes.
T3. Eric Ebron – 7 drops
T8. Marvin Jones Jr. – 6 drops
T28. Anquan Boldin – 4 drops
T28. Golden Tate – 4 drops
Unfortunately, the dropping woes continued for the Lions in their biggest game of the season as they dropped four passes that were beautifully thrown from Matthew Stafford and couple of others that should have been caught. Two of those drops came on the first two Lions possessions of the game when both Golden Tate and Eric Ebron dropped the ball on third down. Fortunately, neither one of those passes came back to bite the Lions in the butt as their defense forced Seattle to punt the ball back on both occasions, but they did stop the Lions from picking up first downs.
