They are starting to get healthy
The Red Wings have been hampered with injuries to key players all season long. Darren Helm, Justin Abdelkader, Niklas Kronwall, Brendan Smith, Thomas Vanek, Jimmy Howard, and Alexey Marchenko have all missed extended time at some point this season.
This bad luck looks to be changing. Abdelkader recently returned to the lineup, and although he has not been lighting up the score sheet (1 assist since returning), his physical presence and ability as a power forward have been beneficial for the Red Wings. Both Helm and Kronwall are expected to return this weekend. Howard was recently placed on long-term IRÂ but has been skating.
Once the Red Wings get healthy, and if they are able to remain healthy, they will have a great shot at making a playoff push.
