They have been resilient
Even before the season started, people were doubting the Red Wings and projecting that their playoff streak would come to an end. Despite all of the criticism, the Red Wings have remained in the fight all season long. Just when we all thought the Red Wings’ playoff hopes were dead, they are beginning to show life again.
Wednesday’s comeback win against Boston is the latest example of Detroit’s resiliency. They were down by three goals twice in that game and overcame these deficits to win it in overtime. They trailed by two goals against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins last week, and they came back to win the game by three goals. In the Centennial Classic against Toronto, they overcame a 4-1 deficit in the third period to force overtime. They eventually lost in overtime to Toronto, but still earned a point in a remarkable comeback.
Detroit’s resiliency has been impressive, and it says a lot about this team. Even though the media and many of the fans gave up hope, this team never stopped believing in themselves. Their ability to mount unlikely comebacks in games provides hope that they can comeback in the standings and contend in the playoffs for a 26th straight season.
