DE Bjoern Werner

Bjoern Werner 2013 Draft

Cut by: Jacksonville Jaguars

The former 1st round pick of Indianapolis has had an up and down career so far. After being drafted by the Colts in 2013, Werner had 2.5 sacks his rookie season and 4 sacks in his second season. Then came the drop off in 2015 as he dropped out of the starting lineup and failed to get to the quarterback. Indy opted to cut Werner who was then picked up by division rival Jacksonville.

It seemed the veteran defensive end had a shot to earn a spot with a relatively young Jaguars defense, but Werner could not beat out rookies Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue. While the Lions are extremely deep at tackle, they could use another DE to provide some depth. Plus Werner would be playing in a 4-3 system that better suits his talents as opposed to the 3-4 defenses he played on in Indianapolis and Jacksonville.
