With the NHL trade deadline approaching on February 28, the Detroit Red Wings and general manager Ken Holland will have some tough decisions to make. While there is still a slim chance that the Red Wings could make the playoffs for a 26th consecutive season, it seems unlikely at this point.
After defeating the Montreal Canadiens Monday, the Red Wings currently sit at seventh place in the Atlantic Division and must string together more wins to have a chance at the playoffs. With all of this in mind, there is a great possibility that the Red Wings will be sellers at the deadline. Five players in particular could be appealing to other teams looking to make a Stanley Cup run.
