According to Boakye, his main concern was the logjam in Michigan State’s frontcourt.
“It’s a tough decision, because I really do love Michigan State,” Boakye said. “But it’s just one of those situations where I have to do what’s best for me and my future.”
“Just doing a lot of research with my people and watching a lot of games, it looks like they will have a lot of guys staying,” Boakye said. “I want to go to a place where I have the opportunity to make an impact right away. That’s the No. 1 goal of mine.”
His reported list of schools he’s now considering include Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, Baylor, Texas Tech, USC, Texas, Gonzaga, UNLV, and Arizona State.
“This was hard to do because just going on the visit there, I really loved everything about it,” Boakye said of Michigan State. “What I’m learning now is that I have to make business decision too. It’s got to be the right fit for me in every way, so I’m opening it back up to get the best decision.”
