75 years ago today (Oct. 16, 1946), the great Gordie Howe made his NHL debut for the Detroit Red Wings and he did not waste any time getting involved as he scored the first of his 801 career goals.
Howe’s first goal came against Toronto Maple Leafs’ goalie, Turk Broda.
In case you were wondering, the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
Howe went on to play 25 years for the Red Wings, making the NHL All-Star team in 21 of those seasons.
Thanks for everything, Gordie! You are truly missed!
