Despite Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick on track to return on schedule from their surgeries, the Detroit Lions aren’t taking any chances and have made moves to solidify their depth.

According to a report from NFL Draft Diamonds, the team is working out former 2015 Tennessee Titans fifth-round draft pick David Cobb. Additionally, the team is working out former Eastern Michigan standout Brandon Hill, as well as Josh Robinson.

“We are learning that both David Cobb the former Titans draft pick from Minnesota and Josh Robinson the former Colts draft pick from Mississippi State are in Detroit for a workout. Former Eastern Michigan RB Bronson Hill is also in for a workout.

Cobb is a much better athlete but injuries slowed him down. He is now on the rebound and looks great. Down from 234 pounds Cobb has been getting looks from NFL personnel.”

In three appearances for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, Hill had two carries. He’s also spent time on the practice squads for the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and New Orleans Saints. The Grand Rapids native was an undrafted free agent of the Buffalo Bills and is well traveled, having spent time with six teams and four practice squads.

Josh Robinson last suited up for the Indianapolis Colts in 2015. He was drafted in the sixth round (205th overall) by the Colts out of Mississippi State and appeared in five games.

However, Cobb is the most accomplished out of the three. After being selected out of Minnesota, he played in seven games for the Titans in 2015, carrying 52 times for 146 yards and one touchdown his rookie season.
