It was little surprise to anyone when the Detroit Tigers announced that Brad Ausmus would not be returning for the 2018 season. But what should come as a bit of a surprise is that Ausmus seems to be squarely in the mix for a couple of managerial openings around the league, including the Boston Red Sox.

On Wednesday, Hall of Fame baseball columnist Peter Gammons wrote a piece “pitching” Ausmus for the Red Sox opening. In the piece, Gammons took a shot at the Detroit media, saying they “asked questions based on what was trending on Twitter.”

Well, Tony Paul of The Detroit News did not take to kindly to Gammons comments and took to Twitter to destroy him in just eight words.

“Yeah, no shit. We write for the fans.” Wrote Paul.

Maybe Gammons does not realize that this is 2017. Either way, well played, Mr. Paul!
