97.1 The Ticket personality says Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores should attempt to ban ‘Jumpman’ logo

On Tuesday, the Detroit Pistons tweeted out a photo that upset quite a few Pistons’ fans.

That photo, which revealed the Statement Edition jerseys the Pistons will wear during the 2020-21 season, features the ‘Jumpman’ logo on the right chest area.

The ‘Jumpman’ logo, of course, is the iconic image of Michael Jordan soaring through the air, and it is one that has become known around the world.

Jordan is arguably the most-hated opponent in Pistons’ history, so it is understandable that many fans are upset their team will be wearing his image on their jersey.

According to 97.1 The Ticket’s Evan Jankins, Pistons’ owner Tom Gores should try to ban the ‘Jumpman’ logo from being worn on a Pistons jersey. Jankins notes that though it is unlikely the league would budge, Gores making a stink over the logo could help his image among Pistons’ fans.

From 97.1 The Ticket:

So, should Pistons owner Tom Gores call the NBA and say the team doesn’t want Jordan’s logo on its uniform? He says he wants the organization to represent Detroit — he says this from LA. This would be proof that he means it.

And it would boost the owner’s public approval rating locally.

Would the NBA ever budge? Probably not. Almost certainly not.

Still, it might behoove Gores to say something, even to make a point.

Nation, do you think Gores should try to make a statement of his own by attempting to ban the ‘Jumpman’ logo from the Pistons’ Statement Edition jersey?
