Every year around this time, rumors start flying around about who the next big NFL head coaching hire will be. Many of those names include current NFL coordinators who have recently had success on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball.

On Thursday, the NFL’s Career Development Advisory Panel distributed their annual list of candidates they recommend for head coaching vacancies in the near future.

As you will see by checking out the list below, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter made the list but another Lions coach was left off completely.

Via NBC’s Pro Football Talk:

According to former NFL executive Mike Lombardi, the list consists of Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel, Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards, Saints assistant head coach and tight ends coach Dan Campbell, Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub, Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

It’s interesting to note that Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin is not on this list. Over that past few seasons, Austin has interviewed for NFL coaching vacancies but has yet to land a gig.
