And we are off!

On New Year’s Day, the Detroit Lions announced they had fired head coach Jim Caldwell after four years of service. Though he was able to lead the Lions to the NFL Playoffs twice in four years, Caldwell was never able to get a playoff win for even an NFC North division crown and it did not seem likely that he would be able to do so in the future.

Following the firing of Caldwell, Lions general manager Bob Quinn held a press conference and made it clear that his goal was to take the Lions to a championship.

That goal of winning a championship begins with Quinn hiring the right person to take over the reigns as the next head coach of the Lions.

According to the Detroit Lions, Quinn has already conducted his first interview and it was with the current Lions defensive coordinator, Teryl Austin.

Austin has been the Lions defensive coordinator since the 2014 season and has interviewed for head coaching positions around the league over the past couple of offseasons.
