A former Spartan joining the Wolverines? Yeah, that’s what’s going on here.

Earlier today, FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman reported that former Michigan State quarterback Dan Enos will be joining the Michigan Wolverines’ coaching staff via Twitter:

Enos is a Dearborn, Michigan native, and was quarterback of the Michigan State football team from 1987-91. He helped lead the Spartans to a share of the Big Ten title in 1990. This move comes as a bit of a surprise because Enos not only played quarterback at Michigan State, but he was also a running backs and quarterbacks coach there from 2006-09.

Enos, 49 years of age, then went on to be the head coach at Central Michigan for five seasons, posting an overall record of 26-36. His last two seasons there were his best, as the Chippewas went 7-6 in both 2013 and 2014. Most recently he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Bret Bielema at Arkansas from 2015-17.

His stint at Arkansas started out well, as the Razorbacks had the third-best offense in the SEC in 2015. However, their offensive production dropped each year after that, and the entire coaching staff ended up being fired after the team went 4-8 during the 2017 season.

While he was at Arkansas, Enos’ pro-style offense threw for more than 3,000 yards and rushed for more than 1,300 yards in two of his three seasons. He has also had coaching stints at Cincinnati, North Dakota State, Western Michigan, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Northern Michigan, and Lakeland College.

Enos is known for being a great developer of talent and an exceptional recruiter. His role at Michigan under head coach Jim Harbaugh has yet to be announced.
