We’ve all seen clips of fans hitting half-court shots to win cash prizes, but how about a full-court putt?

The feat was accomplished on Tuesday night at Eastern Michigan University, where student Jake Lackey nailed a full-court putt to win a cool $10,000!

Afterwards, he admitted that he wasn’t an avid golfer, but that he plans to take his mom on vacation with part of his winnings – after he pays off the rent, of course. He would later tweet that the experience was “absolutely surreal”.

The feat happened during Eastern Michigan’s matchup against Central Michigan, which the Eagles ultimately emerged victorious by a 79-74 final score for their first Mid-American Conference win. Elijah Minnie put up 25 points for EMU, who got 17 points and 12 rebounds from James Thompson IV.

Officials took over four minutes to decide whether or not Charles Matthews of Michigan last touched the ball after Purdue’s Dakota Mathias slapped it out of bounds after Purdue coach Matt Painter requested a review. They eventually awarded possession of the ball to Purdue.

“I asked them why it was taking so long,” Michigan coach John Beilein said afterwards. “I said, ‘If it was taking so long, it must not be indisputable evidence.'”

The setback was tough to swallow for the Wolverines, who were on the verge of an upset in their biggest test of the year so far.

“That one hurts,” Beilein said. “That was a great opportunity for us to beat a really, really good basketball team.”
