BREAKING: Detroit Tigers agree to deal with James McCann

It seemed almost like baseball weather on Thursday in Michigan and the Detroit Tigers were busy making a deal with one of the keys to their future.

According to reports, the Tigers and catcher James McCann have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a 1-year, $2.375 million deal.

McCann, who is 27-years-old, made $552,100 in 2017 with the Tigers.

In 2017, McCann hit .253 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs in 106 games played.

In other Tigers news, the team announced their minor league coaching staffs on Thursday. Mike Hessman has been promoted to Double-A Erie hitting coach to replace Phil Clark who was promoted to assistant hitting coach with the Tigers. In addition, Mariano Duncan is the new hitting coach with the West Michigan Whitecaps and John Vander Wal also joined the Whitecaps coaching staff.

Snow is on the ground (and according to reports a lot more is coming this weekend) and fans of the Detroit Tigers are sitting by their fires dreaming about Spring Training and the 2018 Major League Baseball season to begin.

On Tuesday, the Tigers announced the lineup of current and former players and coaches who will be in attendance for TigerFest 2018.

TigerFest will take place on Saturday, January 27th at Comerica Park.
