The floodgates from the Larry Nassar scandal at Michigan State have opened and it is starting to have its effect on the Michigan State’s athletic department. Early today MSU’s athletic director Mark Hollis resigned stating that he believed it would help the victims heal. This follows the resignation of MSU’s president Lou Anna Simon.

It just doesn’t stop there. ESPN’s Outside The Lines reports that this goes beyond just Nassar, but it could involve both Michigan State’s basketball and football program as well. This news has social media buzzing with “reports” of Tom Izzo and Mark Dantonio stepping down as head coaches of their respective teams. ESPN reports that since 2007 when Dantonio became head coach 16 MSU football players have been involved in a sexual assault incident.

According to the Detroit Free Press two former Michigan State basketball players have been involved in sexual assault incidents. Back in 2010, Former Michigan State players Keith Appling, Travis Walton, and Adreian Payne were accused of sexual assault but the charges were eventually dropped. Walton was also involved in another incident where he reportedly punched a woman in the face at a bar.

As the NCAA continues to investigate Michigan State, the University said they will fully cooperate with anything the NCAA needs or ask for. As far as Tom Izzo retiring? Nothing has been stated by Izzo and can be considered internet rumors for now. And, Dantonio addressed the rumors earlier tonight.

As of now both coaches seem intent on continuing their course with the school. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
