The Detroit Pistons have finalized a trade that brings power forward Blake Griffin to the Motor City. In addition to Griffin, they’ve acquired center Willie Reed and forward Brice Johnson. In return, they sent Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, a future protected first-round draft choice (picks 1-4 protected), and a future second-round draft choice to Los Angeles.

Following the eyebrow raising deal, Griffin took to Twitter to thank Clippers fans for their years of support during his time in Los Angeles, and that he’s looking forward to the next chapter of his career in Detroit, stating that he’s “so proud to have been part of the success of the Clippers organization,” he wrote. “LA has been my home since I started in the league and I will be forever grateful to the city for embracing me and supporting me.”

Griffin’s initial reaction to the news was a classic:

In 33 games played with the Clippers this season, Griffin has averaged 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists. In 504 career games, all with the Clippers, he’s second overall on their all-time scoring list with 10,863 points and is third in rebounds with 4,686.

After re-signing with the Clippers this summer, he certainly wasn’t envisioning himself being dealt less than a year later. However, he appears ready to embrace the challenge of helping lead the Pistons to a playoff spot in the East.

With Detroit’s acquisition of Blake Griffin, Stan Van Gundy is betting on now, because if this fails, expect SVG to be M.I.A in the D.

The Detroit Pistons have just swung for the fences by sending their two leading scorers; Tobias Harris (18.1 ppg) and Avery Bradley (15 ppg), along with Boban Marjanovich, a 2018 1st round pick, and 2019 2nd round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for Blake Griffin, Brice Johnson, and Willie Reed. And while the addition of a 5-time All-Star who can dunk with the best of them and drop 20+ points per game is certainly eye-popping, the amount given is also head-scratching. So… Who won this trade? Let’s break it down for you.
