It’s kind of hard to find many people who have much faith in the Detroit Lions, and it’s been that way for awhile. The Lions have had many losing seasons, and in recent years, have been struggling in mediocrity.

But don’t tell that to Cris Collinsworth of NBC Sports. When talking to Dave Birkett, a writer for the Detroit Free Press, Collinsworth said: “the Lions have too much talent not to get it done.” You can see his full comment in Birkett’s tweet below:

That comes as a hot take when talking about a team that missed the playoffs for the second time in the last three years. The Lions have went 9-7 in each of their last two seasons and have repeatedly failed to beat good teams with winning records. On top of that, they just fired their now-former coach, Jim Caldwell. The Lions are expected to hire New England Patriots’ defensive coordinator Matt Patricia after Sunday’s Super Bowl.

It does need to be noted, Collinsworth didn’t go into specifics on what he exactly meant by the comment. So while there is some reason for optimism, this seems to be a little on the excessive side.

Future Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia’s reason for beard is perfect

The Super Bowl is less than a week away which means the Detroit Lions are also a week away from being able to officially name current New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia as their next head coach.

Though Patricia gets plenty of attention for the job his has done with the Patriots defense, and rightfully so, there is something else about him that seems to be getting a ton of attention from Lions fans.

His epic beard.
